American Pool is currently hiring applicants for lifeguard jobs in Pennsylvania for the summer pool season. As a lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area.
Lifeguards are also responsible for checking and maintaining chemicals, vacuuming and basic upkeep of the pool and facility throughout the day. This is a seasonal position from May – September. Requirements: All lifeguards are required to have their current Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED certifications. Applicants must be at least 15 years old to take the Lifeguard Certification course. American Pool accepts lifeguard certifications from the American Red Cross, Ellis, YMCA, Boy Scouts, and Canada’s National Lifeguard certification.
Indoor lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe swimming environment for all by enforcing facility rules and regulations within the pool and surrounding area.
In addition to rule enforcement, indoor lifeguards may be responsible for chemical maintenance and record-keeping. A lifeguard is also responsible for inspecting the facility on a daily basis and reporting any unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to the office.
Requirements: All lifeguards are required to have their current Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED certifications. Applicants must be at least 15 years old to take the Lifeguard Certification course.
Lifeguard Instructors are responsible for teaching Lifeguard skills and preparing lesson plans for each class.
In addition to teaching the necessary Lifeguard skills, a Lifeguard Instructor is responsible for providing a warm, inviting and safe environment for all participants. The Instructor should communicate effectively and efficiently with all participants, parents/guardians, and staff. Course materials and equipment are required to be maintained as needed by the Instructor.
Requirements: All Lifeguard Instructors are required to have their current Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED certifications, current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification is a plus. Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have reliable transportation.
As a pool attendant, your primary responsibility is the upkeep of the pool and facility throughout the day. In addition to the upkeep of the pool, the pool attendant is also responsible for checking pool passes, greeting pool residents, checking and maintaining chemicals, vacuuming the pool and taking out the trash. The pool attendant is also responsible to call 911 in the event of an emergency. This is a seasonal position from May – September. Jobs go quickly, so apply today!

As an on-site pool manager, your primary responsibility is to supervise staff between 2 and 10 lifeguards while maintaining a safe swimming environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area.
A pool manager is responsible for the supervision of the pool staff, assists with scheduling and confirmation along with chemical maintenance and record-keeping. This is a great opportunity for those that have held lifeguard jobs but want to step up and have more responsibility and get management experience. This is a seasonal position from May – September. American Pool is currently hiring full-time and part-time seasonal staffers and recruiters in the Philadelphia area. It’s a great position for a college student!
As a staffer/recruiter, your responsibilities will include: general office work such as data entry, data management and filing, assisting with making phone calls, lifeguard orientations and helping to fill open shifts in the schedule. You must be detailed oriented, have excellent time management and organizational and communication skills. You should be proficient in Google Docs and the Internet.
The full-time position is a salary based position with benefits that requires a flexible schedule, which includes working evenings and weekends from April-September. From September to March, the position is primarily Monday through Friday. This position is great for those interested in starting a career in Human Resources, Management or Recruiting.
The part-time seasonal position is from (April – September) and requires a flexible schedule, which includes working evenings and weekends. A prior swimming pool background is not required, but is helpful.
As an area supervisor, your primary responsibility is to oversee the operations of 10-13 pool facilities and approximately 30-60 lifeguards within a specific geographic area. Duties may include 3+ site visits per week, maintaining client relationships and basic sales. You must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and have good organizational and communication skills. Aquatic experience is preferred. You must have great customer service, reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. CPO certification is preferred.
